Tkies Khaf was one of the last Yiddish-language films made in Poland before the Nazi anschluss of 1939. Also known as The Vow.
The film centers around a promise made by two Jewish students that their children will marry each other upon attaining adulthood. Years later, the daughter of one of the students falls in love with the son of the other, never realizing that she's been slated to marry the boy all along.
The girl's landlord, who hopes to marry her himself, spreads a pack of lies about the boy, prompting the girl's father to forbid the match (he likewise is unaware of the boy's true identity). It takes the celestial intervention of Elijah the Prophet to straighten out this mess.

One of the stars of Tkies Khaf is leading Yiddish actor Kurt Katch, who ironically spent most of the war years playing Nazis in Hollywood films.
